PART 3: AN EMPIRE OF PROTECTION

Gabriel Sterling spun around, his eyes no longer those of a CEO negotiating a merger, but of a predator that had finally locked onto its life-long enemy.

"Where is Julianna?"

"Bellevue Hospital, critical trauma ward under strict police guard," Marcus replied, his fingers flying across the keyboard. "She took a bullet while escaping the Horizon Dynamics SUV near the park. Before she lost consciousness, she managed to tell the first responding officer one sentence: 'Find Gabriel. Tell him I protected our children.'"

Our children.

The phrase echoed through Gabriel's mind like thunder. Tim was his son. The boy had been born in the shadow of captivity, during the years Gabriel spent believing his wife lay at the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea. Julianna had survived six years of living hell, given birth to two children, and used the final ounce of her strength to flee through a Manhattan blizzard just to place their son and daughter along the exact path she knew he walked every night.

The door to the medical suite opened, and the family doctor stepped out, wiping his brow. "Mr. Sterling, the infant has cleared danger. Her core temperature is stable. She has an extraordinary will to live."

Gabriel exhaled a long, heavy breath, feeling an immense weight lift from his chest. He walked into the guest bedroom, where Tim was sitting on the large bed, dressed in soft pajamas and holding a glass of warm milk. Seeing Gabriel enter, the boy immediately set the milk down, preparing to slide off the mattress.

"Tim, stay right there," Gabriel walked over quickly, sitting down beside him.

"Mr. Gabriel... how is Sarah?" Tim asked, his voice still carrying a slight tremor.

"Your sister is safe. She's sleeping," Gabriel smiled—a rare, genuine smile that hadn't touched his face in six years. He placed a firm hand on Tim's shoulder. "Tim, I have a secret to tell you."

The boy looked up, curious.

"Your mother didn't abandon you. She is the bravest woman I have ever known. She fought very hard to bring you and Sarah to me," Gabriel looked directly into his son's hazel eyes. "And me... I am your father."

Tim froze for several seconds. The glass of milk on the nightstand rattled slightly. The seven-year-old boy stared at Gabriel's face, recognizing the identical features he carried himself. Without a single dramatic sob, the child who had endured far too much hardship simply let go of his blanket, threw himself into Gabriel’s arms, and wrapped his small hands tightly around his neck.

Gabriel pulled his son close, feeling the boy's warmth and steady heartbeat against his chest. All the exhaustion regarding valuation metrics and billion-dollar board meetings evaporated completely. This was his true kingdom.

"Dad..." Tim whispered against his shoulder, using the word for the first time in his life. "Where is Mom?"

Gabriel gently pulled back, wiping away a single tear from the boy's cheek. He stood up straight, the powerful, authoritative aura of the tech tycoon returning, cold and absolute toward the enemies waiting outside.

"I am going to bring your mother home," Gabriel said, his voice echoing firmly through the room. "And this time, no one, no corporation on this earth, will ever be allowed to touch our family again."

Outside the window, the Manhattan blizzard raged on, but inside the penthouse of Sterling Tower, an unquenchable fire of protection and justice had been ignited. Gabriel walked out the door, throwing on a fresh overcoat as he signaled his private tactical security team to mobilize. Horizon Dynamics believed they could use violence to threaten him, but they had made a fatal error: they had forced a father to go to war. The true battle to reclaim the queen of the Sterling dynasty had officially begun.
