Plot twist

Chapter 2 - The Architect of Shadows

Caleb’s face went white.

The paper dropped.

He looked at me.

Then at the screen.

“No,” he whispered.

“That’s impossible.”

I stepped closer.

My heels clicked on wood.

Steady.

Relentless.

“You’re an engineer, Caleb.”

“You understand systems.”

“But you forgot the foundation.”

I held the phone tighter.

“I am the source.”

Katherine looked up.

Her makeup was ruined.

But her eyes were clearing.

She saw the truth.

He didn't marry her for love.

He married her for the funds.

To settle a score.

A debt he carried for years.

His sister, Elena.

Forgotten.

Neglected.

Caleb had been planning this.

For a long time.

He played the perfect son.

The perfect partner.

He hid the monster well.

But I knew.

I had known for months.

I watched him.

I tracked his movements.

I secured the accounts.

He was a prisoner.

And he didn’t even know.

He tried to stand.

His legs failed him.

He was a hollow shell.

A man of glass.

"Why?" he croaked.

"Why destroy me?"

I looked at him.

Coldly.

"You weren't destroying me."

"You were destroying her."

I pointed to Katherine.

"And I don't let anyone,"

"Touch what is mine."

The room was suffocating.

My husband stepped forward.

He grabbed Caleb’s collar.

"Get out," he roared.

"You are no son of mine."

Caleb looked at the door.

Then at his wedding ring.

He pulled it off.

He let it fall.

It bounced on the floor.

A hollow sound.

He walked out.

A ghost of a man.

He had lost everything.

And he didn't even notice.

I turned to Katherine.

I knelt down.

"You're safe now," I said.

"The money is gone."

May you like

"But the truth,"

"Is just beginning."
