Chapter 4 - THE SOVEREIGN DAWN

The executive boardroom on the ninetieth floor of the Vance Tower was a grand temple of old-money power, the air smelling of expensive leather, fresh white roses, and corporate greed.
Thirty of the city’s most prominent investment bankers, board directors, and high-society attorneys sat in high-backed chairs around a massive, polished mahogany table.
At the head of the table sat Damian, Julian's younger half-brother, his sharp navy suit immaculate, his face carrying a smug, victorious grin.
He prepared to slide the gold-plated pen across the final signature line of the merger agreement, which would permanently integrate Vance Logistics into their bankrupt holding company.
"The merger is officially canceled, Damian," a cold, clear voice cut through the room like a steel blade.
The heavy mahogany doors of the boardroom were thrown open, and I walked through the threshold, my head held high, my posture rigid, commanding, and completely unbreakable.
I wore a sharp, tailored white power suit, my long blonde hair swept back into a professional bun, the purple bruise on my forehead fully visible under the bright LED lights.
Beside me walked Marcus and a team of federal auditors, carrying a secure, metal-encased digital drive.
"Clara?" Damian gasped, his face turning an instant, ash-pale gray as the gold pen slipped from his fingers, rolling across the mahogany table.
"This... this is impossible. You are supposed to be under psychiatric detention in Westchester."
"Your mother's private transport was intercepted by the federal marshals three hours ago, Damian," I said, my voice echoing clearly through the silent boardroom.
"And your private accounts in Panama have been permanently frozen by the Department of Justice."
Marcus stepped onto the platform, plugging the secure drive into the table's main media console.
The massive, sixty-foot projector screens behind the podium instantly illuminated, displaying a high-definition document scan that made the entire room of directors gasp in horror.
The screens displayed the federal bank records showing Beatrice and Damian siphoning forty million dollars from our employee retirement fund.
Beside the statement lay the fraudulent medical records, with Victoria’s forged signature of my father's name highlighted in bright red forensic indicators.
"The evidence has been fully authenticated by the State Supreme Court's forensic division," Marcus announced over the microphone.
"Damian Vance, Victoria Vance, Julian Vance."
"You are under arrest for federal wire fraud, grand larceny, corporate embezzlement, and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder."

The heavy metallic click of the restraints closing around Damian's wrists was the most beautiful sound I had ever heard.
The golden princes of the Vance dynasty were reduced to cowering felons, their family's empire of lies permanently dismantled in front of the very society they had tried to rule.
