Chapter 4 - THE CORPORATE INTERDICTION

The early morning sun did nothing to warm the frosted glass panels of Mercer Logistics' primary administrative headquarters downtown.

Carl sat in his high-backed executive chair, his tie undone, his fingers frantically typing validation strings into his terminal screen.

At exactly 9:00 AM, the international markets opened, and within forty-two seconds, the company's primary operating line of credit dropped to zero.

The security walls had been permanently locked down by a federal trade order, systematically freezing every asset associated with the network.

The double doors of the suite were violently pushed open, and I walked through the threshold, my broken arm fully casted, my posture perfectly rigid.

Behind me walked Arthur, flanked by six armed federal marshals whose gold shields gleamed brilliantly under the blinding LED chandeliers.

"Fiona!" Carl barked, trying to force his smooth, entitled arrogance into his voice as he stood up from the mahogany desk.

"You have no legal right to breach my private offices; my family has operated this logistics firm for three generations!"

"Your family operated on a mountain of stolen capital, Carl," I said, placing the certified federal seizure warrants directly onto his desk.

"The money you used to finance this luxury corporate life was stolen directly from my father's generational trust fund."

"And under Section Fourteen of the Federal Anti-Coercion Act, any asset purchased with stolen trust reserves immediately reverts to the primary victim."
