Chapter 4 - THE SOVEREIGN DAWN

The paramedic took a cautious step onto the hardwood floor, her hands gripping the handles of her medical cases as her eyes locked onto the blood on my sweater.
"I need to examine the patient immediately," the paramedic said, her voice carrying an absolute, commanding authority that made Julian's jaw tighten.
"This is a private, family matter, Officer," Julian hissed, stepping forward to block her path, his hand resting flat against his jacket pocket where the stolen trust keys lay hidden.
"My wife is simply experiencing an emotional episode, and we have already contacted our private family physician to handle her recovery."
"Your private family physician is currently being detained by the federal task force, Julian," the paramedic said, a cold, sharp smile finally replacing her professional mask.
She set her medical cases on the floor, her fingers reaching up to pull the hood of her jacket back, revealing the sharp, intelligent features of Nurse Elena, my childhood best friend.
And behind her, stepping through the open door under the fluttering American flag, came my older brother, Captain Marcus Bennett of the Federal Treasury's Forensic Division, flanked by six armed marshals.
"Federal agents!" Marcus roared, his voice booming through the high-ceilinged foyer like a thunderclap as his marshals flooded the room with their weapons drawn.
"Get your hands where we can see them, Julian!"
Julian's face turned an instant, pasty white, his knees buckling slightly as he backed away from the stairs, his grip on Victoria's arm loosening.
Victoria let out a sharp, high-pitched shriek of pure, primitive terror, her emerald-green dress rustling as she tried to run toward the service exit behind the kitchen.
But two female marshals tackled her instantly, pinning her elegant gown against the hardwood floor and snapping the cold steel handcuffs around her wrists.
"Julian, do something!" Victoria screamed, her manicured fingers scratching against the floorboards as she was guided down from the platform.
"This is an absolute mistake!"
"We have the legal right to those assets!"
"The only place you have a right to is a federal penitentiary, Victoria," Marcus said, his voice dropping into a cold, military register of absolute authority.
He knelt beside me on the stairs, his large, warm hand gently wrapping over my trembling fingers as Elena began to apply a sterile bandage to my chest.
"I’ve got you, Clara," Marcus whispered, his eyes shining with tears of pure, protective relief.
"The recording you transmitted from the study has already been uploaded to the federal prosecutor's database."
"We have the toxicological reports, we have the forged land deeds, and we have the physical evidence of the domestic assault."
"Every single account bearing the Vance name has been permanently frozen by the DOJ as of nine this morning."
May you like
Julian stood in the center of the foyer, his expensive navy suit looking like nothing more than a prison uniform as the marshals forced his arms behind his back, the heavy handcuffs closing with a sharp, final clack.
The golden prince of the Vance family was reduced to a pale, shivering felon, his family's empire of lies permanently dismantled in front of the very society he had tried to rule.
