Plot twist

Chapter 7 - THE SOVEREIGN FUTURE

The sharp, crisp wind off the Atlantic Ocean swept through the open terrace of my new oceanfront villa in Tarifa.

Three months had passed since the final conclusion of the corporate audit and the dissolution of my marriage.

I stood on the wide stone deck, wearing a simple, comfortable white linen suit, the afternoon sun painting the water gold.

My body was fully healed, the physical tremors and the mental exhaustion of my past life completely gone.

Blanca walked out onto the terrace, carrying a fresh tray of tea and a warm, respectful smile on her professional face.

"The board has officially finalized the name restoration, Eva," she said, handing me the document packet.

"The shipping networks are operating under the original family name as of nine o'clock this morning."

"And your parents' final appeal for spousal support has been summarily dismissed by the high court."

"Thank you, Blanca," I smiled, looking out at the massive naval vessels moving slowly across the sparkling blue horizon.

The people who had tried to make me feel small, who had called my survival a drama, were gone, lost in the quiet noise.

The old script of our family's silence was permanently destroyed.
