Chapter 2 - THE TACTICAL ALLIANCE

The silence on the other end of the line was absolute, heavy with the weight of decades of unspoken family understanding.

Arturo did not interrupt me as I detailed the clinical state of my daughter's body, from the split lip to the deep purple finger marks that wrapped around her throat like a physical execution order.

I spoke with the flat, emotionless tone of a veteran trauma supervisor who had seen the worst of humanity, but inside my chest, the ice had grown into an unbreakable iron resolve.

"The Vargas empire built their entire foundation on public relations and institutional corruption, Eva," Arturo said, his voice dropping into a lethal, quiet frequency that signaled the immediate activation of his legal network.

"They believe that because they control the local municipal court judges, they can treat an assault like an inconvenient administrative error."

"But they have forgotten who our father was, and they have forgotten the kind of ledgers we keep."

"I don't want a standard civil settlement, Arturo," I replied, my eyes fixed on the steady digital monitor I had attached to Maya's wrist to track her fetal heart rate.

"I want the total, systematic liquidation of their holding firm."

"I want Celeste in a high-security detention facility, and I want Marcos stripped of every single asset he attempted to protect by watching his wife get thrown down those stairs."

"The forensic team is already pulling the corporate registries for Vargas Logistics," Arturo confirmed, the sound of his laptop keyboard clicking sharply through the speaker.

"We are going to execute a federal audit on their offshore accounts before the market opens on Monday morning."

"They wanted a ghost, Eva."

"Now, they are about to discover that the ghost owns the ledger."
