Part 3: The Broken Ledger

The confrontation inside the Whitmore family mansion took place at 10:00 p.m., before their wedding team could pack the registry.
Tessa sat in the center of the grand living room, a champagne glass in her hand, her expression freezing as my boots hit the tile.
Her father, a senior partner in the regional logistics firm, stood near the fireplace with his hands in his pockets.
"Rowan, what is the meaning of this intrusion?" he demanded, his voice dropping into a dangerous, low growl.
"Your wedding is in three weeks, and you are acting like a compliance officer instead of a son-in-law."
"The wedding is permanently canceled, Arthur," I said, sliding the black leather portfolio directly onto the glass table.
The grand digital monitors on the wall lit up instantly, displaying forty pages of unredacted forensic transaction summaries.
"Your daughter didn't just hire an operative to plant my mother's necklace in Maren's closet, Arthur," I stated flatly.
"She used a fraudulent signature key to transfer three million dollars from my children's primary trust account."
Tessa stood up so fast her champagne spilled across her cream designer jacket, her face turning an ugly shade of ash.

"The children don't exist, Rowan!" she shrieked, her voice rising to a frantic pitch under the chandelier.
"Maren was a small-town girl who had nothing! I did what was necessary to secure our corporate baseline!"
