I kept Sofia warm under a heavy wool blanket while Alexander walked straight into the kitchen.
He didn't call the local police, and he didn't reach for a weapon to settle the account.
He pulled a secure, black encrypted tablet from his leather briefcase, activating a private network line.
"Marcus," Alexander said when his senior corporate trust attorney answered the secure field device.
"Initialize the permanent default clause on the Robles Development commercial loans."
"They used our secondary distribution network to clear their multi-million-dollar tax deficit last winter," he stated.
Marcus Bell’s voice boomed through the speaker, crisp, professional, and completely devoid of any hesitation.
"The loan agreements contain a standard moral turpitude override, Alexander," Marcus confirmed over the line.
"If any member of their executive board engages in a criminal enterprise, we can seize the collateral."

"Lock the perimeter and pull their voting proxies before the municipal registry opens at dawn."
