Plot twist

Part 3: The Document Seizure

By 10:00 p.m., the quiet residential neighborhood surrounding our estate was flooded with the flashing lights of utility vehicles.

Marcus Bell, my family’s senior corporate trust attorney, walked through the front doors without asking for permission.

He was followed by four plainclothes compliance officers from the state treasury’s fraud division, their boots loud on the tile.

"Kyle Vance," Marcus announced, sliding a gold-embossed leather portfolio onto the glass desk surface.

"Your administrative proxies have been permanently revoked by a supermajority vote of the holding group."

"You don't have the voting blocks for a takeover, Marcus!" Kyle shouted, standing up in a desperate attempt to show power.

"The board answers to my investment group! I brought them the West Coast distribution permits!"

"The permits were secured using cloned signatures from Sarah's private trust accounts, Mr. Vance," Naomi Pierce added.

Naomi, our lead forensic analyst, stepped up to the terminal, her fingers displaying the signature verification logs.

"The digital certificates were copied from a 2024 tax document you extracted from her desk while she was away."

Thalia took a panicked step toward the side exit, her luxury handbag clutched tightly against her stomach.

"I had nothing to do with the corporate paperwork," she stammered, her socialite confidence completely gone.

"I was just a consultant for the lifestyle brand. You can't touch my personal accounts."

"Your personal accounts were funded by the Vanguard maintenance line, Ms. Cole," Naomi replied, her voice clinical.

"An account that was officially placed under an absolute federal receivership ten minutes ago."
