Plot twist

Part 2: The Midnight Liquidation

Alexander didn't call the police.

He called his chief of operations, a cold-faced man named Marcus.

Within twenty minutes, three black SUVs parked outside my building, their engines idling silently.

Alexander sat in the back seat, his laptop open, the glow illuminating the absolute fury in his eyes.

— Begin the liquidation, Alexander ordered into his headset.

The Robles family built their fortune on real estate development and Javier’s high-profile law firm.

To the world, they were untouchable.

To Alexander Vance, they were a house of cards waiting for a breeze.

— First Meridian Bank just pulled the lines of credit for Robles Development, Marcus reported from the front seat.

— Good, Alexander said, his fingers flying across the keyboard. Freeze their payroll accounts. Cite suspected money laundering. Let the feds sort it out next week.

By 4:15 a.m., the Robles empire was hemorrhaging millions every sixty seconds.

But economic ruin wasn't enough for a man whose daughter had been left bleeding in a wedding dress.

Alexander wanted them to look him in the eye when they fell.

The SUVs tore through the streets of Dallas, stopping outside the luxury hotel where the wedding reception had taken place.

The penthouse suite was registered under Carmen Robles’ name.

Alexander walked through the lobby, his security team clearing the path with silent, terrifying efficiency.

When they reached the top floor, Marcus didn't bother knocking.

A single heavy kick sent the double oak doors splintering into the suite.

Inside, the scene was grotesque.

Carmen was sitting on a plush velvet sofa, still wearing her gold-embroidered mother-of-the-bride dress.

Javier stood by the window, a glass of champagne in his hand, looking down at his phone.

The six women who had helped trap my daughter were laughing around a marble table.

The laughter died instantly as Alexander walked in, his tailored coat flowing behind him like a shadow.

Javier dropped his glass, the crystal shattering on the floor.

— Mr. Vance? Javier stammered, his face turning an ash-grey. What... what is the meaning of this?

Carmen stood up, her expensive jewelry clicking as she tried to summon her usual arrogance.

— Alexander, really! This is a private suite! Your daughter is hysterical and ran off because of a minor marital dispute—

Alexander didn't let her finish.

He walked up to the marble table, picked up a heavy silver ice bucket, and flipped it across the room.

The crash echoed like a thunderclap.

— Shut your mouth, Carmen, Alexander whispered.

The room became so quiet you could hear the hum of the city below.
