Part 2: The Fall of the Morrison Empire

The silence that followed the marshal's announcement was absolute. The laughter vanished from Brendan's face so quickly it looked as though the blood had been drained directly from his skin. Diane’s hands began to shake, the metal bucket slipping from her fingers and clattering loudly against the hardwood floor.
"Chairman?" Jessica stammered, her high-pitched, aristocratic voice cracking as she lowered her wine glass. "What is this man talking about? Brendan, tell your security guards to remove this trespasser!"
The two forest-green uniform guards in the back didn't move an inch to help her. In fact, they stood at strict attention, bowing their heads as Arthur entered the room behind the marshals, carrying a black leather corporate portfolio stamped with the official seal of M-Luxe International Holdings.
"The security guards don't answer to the Morrison family, Jessica," I said, my voice clinical and entirely devoid of emotion as I wiped a stray droplet of dirty water from my cheek. "They answer to the payroll registry of the parent corporation. A corporation that I built from a single laptop in a rented basement while Brendan was busy maxing out his father’s credit lines."
To this family, I had been Cassidy the orphan, the penniless accountant Brendan had married out of 'pity' and discarded the moment he climbed to a vice-presidency. They genuinely believed that the luxury vehicles in the driveway, the corporate accounts, and this very estate were funded by Brendan’s architectural genius.
They never bothered to look at the master trust agreements. They never researched who owned Aegis Venture Capital, the primary institutional creditor that had quietly funded ninety-four percent of the Morrison family's commercial growth over the past five years.
"You signed the corporate liability waivers during our divorce settlement six months ago, Brendan," I said, standing up slowly from the table, my wet dress clinging to my stomach but my posture radiating an immense, terrifying aura of authority. "You were so eager to push me out and sign your new executive contract that you didn't even bother to read the secondary asset liquidation footnotes."

Arthur popped the brass latches on his portfolio, sliding three certified court orders onto the glass table, right next to the spilled wine and the dripping water.
"Effective at 8:45 PM tonight, Giao thức 7 has been officially authorized by the Board of Directors," Arthur announced, his voice echoing off the high ceilings. "Brendan Morrison is stripped of his title, his executive access, and his corporate salary due to gross personal misconduct and the hidden concealment of marital holdings. Furthermore, the commercial line of credit to the Morrison Group has been terminated. As of this exact minute, your firm is entirely bankrupt."
