Plot twist

Part 3: The Widow's Wrath

The massive oak doors slammed against the walls with the force of a gunshot.

The polite murmurs of the wealthy guests instantly died, replaced by a suffocating, terrified silence.

Evelyn Vance, the billionaire CEO, strode into the parlor, her face pale and twisted in absolute panic.

She was not carrying a champagne glass.

She was flanked by four massive men in tactical gear bearing federal FBI insignia.

“Evelyn?” Rodrigo stammered, nearly dropping his bourbon glass. “What is the meaning of this? This is a private memorial!”

I slowly turned away from my wife’s coffin.

I walked to the front of the room, taking my place at the center of the altar, looking down at my family like a judge preparing to deliver a death sentence.

“The memorial is over, Rodrigo,” I announced, my voice carrying clearly across the silent, shocked crowd.

I reached into my suit pocket and pulled out the torn navy-blue button.

I flicked it aggressively across the polished marble floor.

It slid to a halt directly at Rodrigo’s expensive leather shoes.

“You left something behind when you beat my wife to death in the study,” I stated coldly.

The guests gasped collectively, stepping backward, creating a wide circle of isolation around my mother and brother.

“Julián, you are having a psychotic break!” my mother shrieked, her voice shrill and desperate. “Someone call a doctor! His grief has made him insane!”

I didn't argue.

I simply looked at Marcus, who was standing quietly near the grand piano.

Marcus raised a remote control and aimed it at the massive smart-television mounted above the fireplace.

The screen flickered to life.

The file 2.mp4 began to play on a loop, in massive, high-definition clarity for every single elite guest in the room to witness.

They watched Rodrigo, missing the exact button lying on the floor.

They watched my mother holding the tiny, moving bundle.

And they watched Evelyn Vance hand over a titanium briefcase in exchange for a human child.

Rodrigo’s face turned a sickening shade of grey.

He lunged toward me, his fists clenched, his arrogance giving way to sheer, animalistic panic.

“You son of a bitch!” Rodrigo roared.

He didn't make it two steps.

Two federal agents tackled him to the marble floor, slamming his face into the cold stone and clicking heavy steel handcuffs around his wrists.

“Rodrigo Armenta,” the lead agent barked, pressing his knee into my brother’s spine. “You are under arrest for first-degree murder and human trafficking.”

My mother screamed, a horrific, guttural sound, as a female agent grabbed her arms and pinned her against the wall.

“I am Teresa Armenta!” my mother wailed, thrashing wildly. “You cannot touch me! I own this city!”

“You own absolutely nothing,” I interrupted, stepping closer to her struggling form.

I pulled a thick, leather-bound legal document from my jacket and held it up.

“This is the power of attorney Camila and I drafted six months ago,” I explained smoothly.

“It includes a moral turpitude clause. The moment the federal indictment was filed against you this morning, your shares in the family vineyards were completely liquidated.”

I smiled, and it was the coldest thing I had ever done.

“I now own one hundred percent of the Armenta estate.”

I turned my terrifying gaze toward Evelyn Vance, who was shaking violently as an agent secured her handcuffs.

“Where is my son, Evelyn?” I whispered, stepping so close she could feel the absolute wrath radiating from my body.

“I... I didn't know they killed her!” Evelyn sobbed, completely breaking under the pressure.

“They told me she died in childbirth! They said they didn't want the bastard child! I just wanted an heir for my trust fund!”

“Where is he?!” I roared, the sheer volume of my voice shaking the crystal chandeliers above us.

“He’s at my private estate in the Hamptons!” Evelyn cried out, falling to her knees. “He’s safe! I have a team of pediatric nurses with him! Please, Julián, I swear he is safe!”

I nodded slowly, signaling the federal agents.

“Take them all away,” I commanded.

I watched without a single ounce of pity as they dragged my screaming mother, my pathetic brother, and the broken CEO out of my house.

The wealthy guests fled immediately, terrified of being associated with the slaughtered dynasty.

Within ten minutes, the grand parlor was completely empty, save for Marcus, myself, and the quiet coffin resting in the center.

I walked back to the casket and looked down at Camila.

She still looked beautiful, but now, the truth had set her spirit free.

I gently reached down and placed my bare hand over hers.

“We won, mi amor,” I whispered, a single tear finally breaking free and falling onto her white dress.

“I took everything from them. Just like you planned.”

I stood up straight, adjusting my suit jacket.

“Marcus,” I said, turning to my loyal counsel.

“Yes, sir?”

“Prepare the corporate jet. We are flying to the Hamptons immediately.”

I looked back at my wife one last time, making a silent, unbreakable promise to the woman who had saved my life.

“I’m going to go bring our son home.”
