PART 3: THE FORENSIC REVENGE

The elegant ballroom had transformed into a sterile processing center. Guests were being escorted out one by one after having their identities logged by the authorities, while the Miller family was forced to sit at a corner table, stripped of their phones and luxury accessories.

I sat across from them in a dry plush chair, a black wool trench coat thrown over my damp wedding gown. Arthur stood by my side, reviewing the financial real-time tickers on his tablet.

"The Rivas line of credit is officially dead," Arthur announced quietly. "And Chloe's father just released a public statement completely disowning his daughter to protect their shipping conglomerate from the fallout."

Chloe, who had been smirking so triumphantly just an hour ago, was now sobbing quietly into her hands. Her dark red velvet dress looked ridiculous under the flashing lights of the police cruisers visible through the hotel's glass windows. "Thomas, do something! My dad is going to cut me off completely! You said you had everything under control!"

Thomas couldn't even look at her. He stared at the floor, his hands clamped in iron handcuffs. "Sarah... please. Look at me. We loved each other. We built a life together for two years. You can't let them destroy my family over a mistake."

"A mistake?" I laughed softly, the sound rich and utterly devoid of warmth. "You poured champagne on me to humiliate me in front of the world because you thought I was helpless. Your mother threw money at my feet like I was trash. That wasn't a mistake, Thomas. That was your character."

Margaret Miller lifted her chin, her face twisted in desperate rage. "You used us! You lied about who you were! You set this entire trap!"

"I gave you every opportunity to be human, Margaret," I said, leaning forward, looking her dead in the eyes. "For two years, I played the quiet, grateful orphan. I cooked for your family, I cleaned up after your parties, and I endured your insults because I wanted to see if anyone in this house had a shred of decency. But you didn't. You saw an orphan as a target."

I turned to Richard, Thomas's father, who was still trembling. "But the real reason I'm here is because of what you did twenty years ago."

Arthur pulled an old, faded photograph from the briefcase and slid it across the table. It showed a younger Richard Miller standing next to my father, both of them smiling in front of the original Vance headquarters. Behind the photo was a blood-stained letter written by my father the night he died.

"You sabotaged my father’s logistics fleet in 2006," I said, my voice dropping to a deadly whisper. "You caused the crash that killed my parents so you could steal the midwest shipping contracts and build your little empire. My grandfather spent the rest of his life gathering the forensic evidence to prove it. He died before he could finish the job. But I didn't."

Richard buried his face in his hands, groaning in absolute despair. "We didn't mean for them to die... it was just supposed to be a financial hit..."

"Tell that to the judge," I said, standing up.
