PART 4: THE NEW EMPIRE

PART 4: THE NEW EMPIRE
Six months later.
The private penthouse balcony of the Valente estate in Lake Forest overlooked the deep blue, calm waters of Lake Michigan. The summer air was warm, carrying the scent of expensive roses and fresh lake wind.
Meline sat in a white wicker rocking chair, wearing a beautiful silk sundress. In her arms, she held a healthy, dark-haired baby boy, his big dark eyes staring up at the clouds. Little Leo Valente.
The television inside the living room was playing the afternoon news on mute, but the banners running across the bottom of the screen told the final chapter of the war: DUCA CRIME SYNDICATE COMPLETELY LIQUIDATED AFTER FEDERAL INDICTMENTS; CARLO ROSSI FOUND DEAD IN CHICAGO RIVER.
Dominic walked out onto the balcony, wearing a relaxed black linen shirt, his dark hair catching the sunlight. He carried a small silver tray with a cup of chamomile tea, placing it gently on the table beside her.
He didn't look like the terrifying syndicate boss the news articles described. He looked like a father.
Dominic knelt beside the rocking chair, his massive hand gently resting over Meline's knee before his fingers moved up to stroke Leo’s soft cheek. The baby instantly gripped his father's index finger with his tiny fist.
"The East Coast ports are officially under our shipping log," Dominic said softly, his voice rich and steady. "The Duca family is gone. Carlo’s network has been completely dismantled. There are no more shadows left to hide in, Meline."
Meline looked down at their son, then up into the eyes of the man who had torn down two criminal empires just to keep them safe.
"You promised nothing would touch us while we're yours," she murmured, a soft, genuine smile finally breaking across her face.
Dominic leaned up, kissing her lips with a slow, deep tenderness before leaning down to kiss the baby's forehead.

"And I don't break my contracts," Dominic whispered, his eyes flashing with the quiet, absolute power of a man who had won his family back from the flames.
The new era of the Valente family had begun, and this time, the truth was written in stone.
