Chapter 4 - THE CORPORATE INTERDICTION

The early morning sun of Monday morning did nothing to warm the frosted glass panels of KAIROS Systems' central headquarters tower in the commercial center.

The atmosphere inside the executive penthouse floor was completely suffocating, filled with the low, frantic murmurs of senior vice presidents and compliance directors who had been awake since midnight.

Adrian sat in his high-backed leather chair, his designer tie completely undone, his hair disheveled.

His hands were trembling violently as a continuous, relentless stream of red emergency flags filled his primary administrative terminal.

Every single access key he possessed was being systematically revoked in real-time.

Every commercial credit line, every domestic banking asset, and every international operating license associated with the Kang network was dropping into absolute suspension.

Vivienne burst through the mahogany double doors of the suite without knocking, her face a pale mask of raw high-society terror as she slammed a tablet onto his desk.

“Adrian! The regional clearing house just executed an emergency quarantine on our primary operational vault!” she shrieked, her voice cracking into a high-pitched register of pure panic.

“They are saying our commercial collateral is completely invalid because the underlying software licenses are under an active judicial recapture order!”

“They are claiming we don't have the legal authority to process the Department of Defense contracts today! The international shipping lines are freezing our cargo at the northern ports!”

Adrian looked up, his eyes bloodshot, his pride entirely stripped away as the sound of heavy, synchronized footsteps began to echo through the marble lobby outside.

“It’s Clara,” he whispered hoarsely, his hands dropping uselessly onto the mahogany desk as the central network connectivity indicator dropped to zero percent.

“She didn't just document the argument stage last night... she was the anonymous lead consultant who built the entire security wall.”

“She has been tracking every single one of my personal loans since the day I signed the integration charter. She didn't want a divorce... she wanted a liquidation.”

The heavy double doors were violently pushed open, and I walked through the threshold, my posture perfectly rigid, my tailored charcoal wool power suit catching the light of the LED chandeliers.

Behind me walked Blanca, flanked by six armed federal marshals whose gold shields gleamed brilliantly under the office lights.

“The registry is closed, Adrian,” I said, my voice cutting through the panic of the room like a razor-sharp steel blade.

“And your executive authority is no longer required in this building.”
