Part 3: The Broken Line
The second officer moved toward my father, his boots squeaking softly against the polished linoleum floor.
"Robert Mitchell," the officer stated, his voice flat and professional. "You are under arrest for grand larceny, identity theft, and corporate wire fraud."
Vanessa took a panicked step backward, her purple swimsuit wrinkled as she clutched her sister's hospital gown. "I didn't sign anything, Rachel! I just took the photos! Mom told me the money was from an old investment!"
"You sent the emails containing my scanned Social Security card, Vanessa," I said, looking down at my son's peaceful face. "You wrote the caption telling me not to be dramatic while you were sitting next to a champagne bucket bought with my son's educational trust."

"She's not a clerk, Mr. Mitchell," Marcus Bell, my attorney, said as he walked into the room, holding a copy of the emergency federal asset forfeiture order. "She's the majority shareholder of your primary logistics line as of noon today."
The handcuffs clicked shut with a sharp, final sound that resonated through the room.
