THE SHADOW OF FIFTEEN YEARS AGO
PART 2: THE SHADOW OF FIFTEEN YEARS AGO
Fifteen years earlier, a devastating private plane crash claimed the lives of billionaire Harrison and his wife.
They were the powerful tycoons who owned the largest hotel and real estate empire in the state of Illinois.
At the time, the media concluded that the tragedy had been caused by a technical failure during severe weather.
Their two young children—a ten-year-old daughter and a two-year-old son—were reported missing and presumed dead in the dense forest where the aircraft had crashed.
But the truth was something no one knew.
That ten-year-old girl was Elena.
Using her tiny body, she carried her two-year-old brother away from the crash site before the killers arrived to burn every trace of the crime.
To protect her little brother's life, Elena abandoned her real identity.
She lived under the false name "Polser" and worked the lowest-paying jobs imaginable to support him.
Then, three years earlier, a mysterious group discovered where they were hiding and kidnapped her little brother right outside his school.
For the past one thousand days, Elena had searched desperately for him.
She even accepted a job as a waitress at this luxury hotel to gain access to the upper class, hoping to find even the smallest clue.
Back in the present...
The banquet hall had become so silent that everyone could hear the sound of their own heartbeat.
The woman in the glittering evening gown who had just humiliated Elena was none other than Evelyn Vance, the Governor's wife and a distant cousin who had inherited part of the Harrison family's fortune after the plane crash.
Evelyn stammered.
Her expensive red lipstick trembled on her lips.
"Y... what did you just say? Who's still alive? What black box?"
Elena slowly rose from the shattered glass.
She was no longer the timid, frightened waitress from moments earlier.
Her eyes had completely changed.
They had become cold, sharp, and filled with bone-deep hatred.
She stared directly at Evelyn.
Using the edge of her uniform, she wiped away the tears on her face.
As she did, a small star-shaped scar appeared near her collarbone.
It was the exclusive birthmark of the Harrison family—a symbol known only to members of the bloodline.
"Mrs. Evelyn... don't you recognize me?"
Elena's voice was low...
Yet every word was crystal clear.
"Fifteen years ago, you gave my little brother a teddy bear before that doomed flight. That teddy bear contained a GPS tracking device so your accomplices could monitor my parents' flight path. Did you really think time could erase everything?"
The surrounding guests erupted into shocked whispers.
Television cameras from the media covering the charity gala immediately swung toward the two women.
Camera flashes exploded nonstop like bolts of lightning exposing years of deception.
Evelyn stumbled backward.
She nearly fell into the banquet table behind her.
Struggling to remain composed, she screamed at the security staff.
"Security! Throw this crazy woman out! She's delusional! She's destroying my reputation!"
But not a single security guard moved.
At the main entrance of the banquet hall...
An FBI tactical team dressed in black combat gear suddenly stormed inside, carrying heavy weapons.
Leading the team was a young man around seventeen years old.
He wore worn-out clothes.
He stood tall.
His piercing blue eyes unmistakably carried the Harrison family features.
In his hands was a dark orange metal box, rusted by time.
Yet the serial number engraved on its surface remained perfectly intact.
It was Leo.
Elena's little brother.
Leo looked at his sister with tear-filled eyes.
