Part 2: The Intellectual Property Migration

The transition from an unappreciated family artisan to an absolute corporate forensic force took less than twenty-four hours to manifest.
When I walked away from Miller Custom Woodworks, I didn't just leave behind an empty desk and a stack of unpaid invoices.
I carried the private digital encryption keys to the automated CNC machining scripts that I had spent three years programming myself.
My father and Paige genuinely believed that owning the physical workshop building meant they owned the operational data running the machinery.
They completely overlooked the fact that the design codes were registered under my private intellectual property firm, Bourne Design Labs.
By 4:00 p.m., the main boardroom at Vanguard Holdings, our region's largest luxury estate developer, was locked down for an audit.
The senior vice president, Harrison Cole, sat across from me, reviewing forty pages of my independent patent certifications.
"The custom architectural moldings for our luxury hotel project cannot be produced without your specific code blocks, Brooke?" Harrison asked.
"The machinery at Miller Woodworks is completely useless without the proprietary calibration scripts I created," I responded flatly.
"My family transferred the commercial entity to my sister without verifying the underlying technical asset registry."
Harrison Cole didn't hesitate; he signaled his corporate compliance team to immediately terminate the outstanding master contract with my parents.
"If the technical infrastructure isn't secure, the contract is legally void under the non-performance clause," Harrison stated, signing the document.
The automated system instantly routed a formal cancellation notice to my father's corporate portal, triggering his frantic phone call.
"They think your talent is limited to manual labor, Brooke," Marcus Bell, my lead attorney, whispered from the side console.
"But you hold the master encryption keys to the entire luxury construction pipeline in this territory."

"Initialize the secondary asset block, Marcus," I ordered, my eyes turning into slits of cold, calculated focus.
"We are going to execute a total market foreclosure on their supply line before their accountants can trace the migration."
