Part 4: The Clean Foreclosure

The final foreclosure of Miller Custom Woodworks was executed inside the federal district court at 11:00 a.m. on Friday.
My father sat at the defense table, his hands shaking violently as he stared at the corporate liquidation schedules.
Regina and Paige sat directly behind him, their faces completely drained of all color under the cold fluorescent fixtures.
The judge reviewed the unredacted forensic data and the intellectual property filings for less than five minutes before striking her gavel.
"Based on the verified patent ownership and the immediate insolvency of the primary commercial debtor," the judge announced.
"The court orders the immediate, permanent liquidation of the physical assets located at the Miller Woodworks property."
"The master acquisition right is hereby awarded to the priority lienholder, Bourne Design Labs, managed by Brooke."
I stood up slowly, smoothing the front of my sharp black blazer as my family realized the full scope of my strategy.
They had spent my entire adult life treating my patience like a permanent guarantee of free, unaligned labor.
They looked at my calloused hands and assumed my brain was completely incapable of managing a corporate network.
They entirely forgot that the same person who builds the foundation of a structure is the one who knows how to pull the trigger.
I walked out of the courthouse steps into the bright morning sun, the fresh air washing the scent of their malice away.
The old routine was torn to pieces, the liars were contained in a maximum-security audit, and our workspace was clear.

The master ledger was perfectly, beautifully balanced.
And my true empire was finally, safely, and permanently mine.
