Chapter 3 - The Breaking Point

The war turned physical when Nora’s apartment was broken into.

She returned home to find her files scattered and her hidden server destroyed.

She didn't call the police.

She called Grayson.

"They found the backup," she said, her voice steady.

"Then we’re in trouble," Grayson replied.

"No," Nora answered, "we’re in position."

She had been monitoring the intruders’ IP addresses from her hidden network.

She knew exactly who sent them—the board members who had lost their power.

"I’m going to meet them," Nora said.

"That's suicide," Grayson shouted.

"It's the only way to get a confession."

Nora arrived at the meeting place, an abandoned dock at the edge of the city.

Three men stepped out of the shadows, armed and angry.

"Hand over the rest of the documents," the lead man demanded.

Nora held up her phone.

"Everything is already in the hands of the authorities."

"You're bluffing," he sneered.

"Am I?"

She pressed a button, and a siren wailed in the distance.

The police swarmed the dock, and the men were subdued within minutes.

As the officers cuffed them, one of them looked at Nora.

"You were right," he said. "They were trying to frame you for the breach."

Nora sighed, the adrenaline finally fading.

"It’s over."

But as she looked out over the water, she felt a chill.

It wasn't over.

Someone was still watching from the dark.
