Chapter 3 - The Aftermath

The news of the wedding collapse was in every major newspaper by the following morning.
The "Vineyard Wedding Scandal" became the subject of countless articles, social media posts, and late-night jokes.
The financial investigation into Julian’s firm revealed deep-seated fraud, leading to his arrest just days later.
Robert, Julian’s father, took over the company, issuing a statement that he was committed to transparency and to paying back every investor Julian had deceived.
Camila spent those weeks away from the spotlight, staying in a small cottage near the coast with her parents.
They walked on the beach, cooked meals together, and talked about things that had nothing to do with money, status, or weddings.

For the first time in years, her parents laughed without the fear of saying the wrong thing.
One afternoon, her father looked at her while they sat on the sand.
“Are you sorry?” he asked.
“About the wedding?”
“About everything.”
Camila looked out at the ocean, the horizon wide and open.
“I’m sorry I didn’t see it sooner,” she said.
“But I’m not sorry I walked away.”
She realized then that her walk out of that tent hadn't been an end; it had been an awakening.

She had defined herself by Julian’s approval for too long, but she had finally reclaimed the dignity she had forgotten she possessed.
The trauma was still there, but the healing was already underway, supported by the only people who had ever truly loved her without conditions.
