Chapter 6 - The Unmasking in the Boardroom

At 10:00 AM on Thursday, the executive boardroom on the fiftieth floor of Greystone Tower was packed with board members, legal counsel, and major institutional investors.
Carol Marlowe sat near the head of the mahogany table wearing an elegant dark suit, her face carrying a carefully rehearsed expression of maternal grief. Nadine sat beside her, looking solemn, while Asher stood at the podium with a polished presentation displayed on the wall screens.
"Ladies and gentlemen," Asher began, his voice solemn and persuasive. "We are all deeply saddened by the tragic medical catastrophe that has befallen our beloved CEO, Clara Marlowe."
A few board members nodded sympathetically.
"However," Asher continued, stepping closer to the main screen, "Greystone cannot afford to stall in this volatile market. The emergency succession framework mandates an immediate transfer of operational authority so we can secure our international lines of credit."
"I motion for an immediate vote," Carol announced, standing up gracefully. "For the stability of my daughter's legacy."
"I second the motion," Nadine added smoothly.
The board chairman raised his pen. "All those in favor—"
The heavy double doors at the back of the boardroom swung open with a loud, sudden thud.
The room fell into dead silence.
I walked into the boardroom, wearing a tailored dark navy suit that covered the heavy bandages on my arms and torso. My posture was straight, my eyes bright and steady, completely free of any confusion or weakness.
Beside me walked Thomas Reed and two uniformed federal agents holding digital seizure warrants.
Carol gasped, her pearl necklace slipping from her fingers. Nadine turned ghost-white, her hand dropping her pen onto the table. Asher froze at the podium, his mouth open, his eyes wide with absolute horror.
"Clara...?" the board chairman stammered, standing up in disbelief. "We were told you were in critical condition... incapacitated!"
"I was incapacitated," I said, my voice echoing clearly across the high-ceilinged room. "Until I recovered the evidence of who locked me inside my vehicle and watched it burn."
"This is insane!" Asher panicked, waving his hands toward security. "She's delusional! The trauma has scrambled her mind! Security, escort her out!"
"Don't touch her," the lead federal agent commanded, stepping forward and flashing a gold badge. "Federal Bureau of Investigation. Everyone remain seated."

I tapped my tablet, connecting directly to the boardroom’s primary projection system.
The presentation screens behind Asher flickered and changed.
