Chapter 4 - THE CORPORATE INTERDICTION

The early morning sun did nothing to warm the frosted glass panels of Vance Development’s central corporate headquarters downtown.

Carol sat in her expansive executive suite, her silk blouse slightly wrinkled, her fingers frantically typing validation codes into her system terminal.

At exactly 9:00 AM, the international markets opened, and within forty-two seconds, her company's primary operating line of credit began a historic descent.

The automated warning flags on her monitor flashed a blinding, continuous crimson, indicating a total administrative quarantine by the state treasury.

"This is an absolute technical error!" Carol shrieked, slamming her designer purse onto the mahogany desk as her assistant walked in pale.

"Call the regional branch manager right now; I have a fifty-thousand-dollar compliance payment due for the Naples construction project by noon!"

"The regional branch manager cannot help you, Carol," a calm, freezing voice announced from the double doors of the boardroom.

I walked through the threshold, my posture perfectly rigid despite the surgical stitches beneath my dark wool power suit, my eyes fixed on her.

Behind me walked Blanca, flanked by six armed federal marshals whose gold shields gleamed brilliantly under the office chandeliers.

"Your commercial credit lines have been permanently canceled because the underlying collateral belongs entirely to my son's legacy trust," I said.

"You spent years parading your false status through this city using money that my father explicitly locked away for my children's security."

"And by launching that physical attack against my body at the baby shower, you officially signed the total foreclosure of your own firm."

Carol took a frantic step backward, her face turning a pasty shade of wet ash as the lead marshal stepped forward with a warrant.

"Carol Vance, you are officially under arrest for corporate forgery, systematic bank fraud, and aggravated first-degree domestic assault," the officer declared.
