Chapter 3 - THE BROKEN CONTRACT

The transition from a publicly humiliated, pregnant woman back into the sovereign executor of the Vance Legacy Fund was completed before the store manager could clear the floor.

I sat in the rear compartment of Arthur’s private armored transport vehicle, the bright lights of the financial district blurring past the dark, reinforced glass windows.

Beside me sat my senior corporate compliance director, Blanca, her tablet displaying a multi-layered financial matrix that detailed every single loan Tyler had hidden.

"He didn't just spend the last six months exploiting your domestic silence, Rachel," Blanca explained, her fingers rapidly scrolling through the highlighted bank logs.

"Tyler used your digital security tokens to secure personal construction bonds for his development project on the north side, believing you would never audit the secondary accounts."

"He told the regional investment board that you were merely a dependent companion with no active administrative authority over the legacy funds," she added.

"He believed my pregnancy made me an easy target to isolate and gaslight," I whispered, a dangerous, crystalline focus settling behind my eyes.

"He forgot that before my father passed away, he spent ten years training me as a senior forensic compliance officer for the maritime division."

"The commercial lease guarantee he used to secure his firm’s executive offices requires a manual renewal verification by noon tomorrow," Blanca confirmed.

"And since we have officially initiated the default protocol, his primary operating accounts have just been placed under an emergency treasury block."

I looked down at the dynamic tracking report, my teeth clenching with an absolute, unyielding resolve as the old submission burned away.

"Let him try to clear the business payroll tomorrow morning, Blanca," I said quietly.

"And when he realizes the vault door is permanently locked from the inside, we will step onto the floor."
