Chapter 10 - The Horizon

Months later, I held my son in my arms.
His name was Leo.
He was strong, healthy, and entirely mine.
We were living in a small, cozy house with a garden of sunflowers and a view of the park.
I had started my own consultancy firm, helping others who had been trapped in the shadow of corporate greed.
The Thorne estate had been sold, the money distributed among the victims.
I didn't take a dime.
I didn't need it.
I had my freedom.
I stood on the porch, watching the sunset.
The world was vast, messy, and full of possibility.
I realized then that I had fought a war for a life I had already possessed.
I didn't need the mansion or the empire.
I needed the peace of a quiet evening and the promise of a future I would define on my own terms.
I looked at Leo, his tiny fingers clutching my robe.
"We made it," I whispered.
He cooed in response.
I turned back to the house, the warmth of home surrounding me.
The past was smoke.
May you like
The future was light.
And I was finally, completely, mine.
