Part 4: The Clean Foreclosure

The confrontation in the main terminal conference room was short, sharp, and entirely free of corporate negotiation.
Aurelio Salcedo sat at the head of the table, his expensive tailored coat draped over his shoulders, a satisfied smirk on his lips.
Yara stood behind him, her manicured fingers resting casually on his chair as if the victory had already been registered.
"You're a brilliant tactician, Cormack," Aurelio smoothly said, sliding a pen across the glass table. "But you forgot that an independent compliance audit always looks at the foundational funding."
"The funding didn't come from your shell company, Aurelio," I said, walking slowly toward the display monitors.
I slid my own encrypted flash drive into the system's master panel.
The grand screens behind him lit up instantly, displaying the live streaming security video from the northwestern neonatal unit.
Beside the baby's isolation bassinet stood Naomi Pierce, my international trust attorney, holding a signed document.
"The dojo trust was never dissolved," I announced, my voice cutting through the room like a cold winter wind.
"Brin signed the master proxy rights over to the Vanguard Group three hours ago, before your legal team could file the injunction."
Aurelio’s smirk evaporated, his face turning an ugly shade of gray as the monitors began flashing red with asset-seizure alerts.
"The Delaware corporation you used to buy my shipping routes has been placed under immediate federal receivership for money laundering," I added.
The door behind him burst open, and two plainclothes federal investigators stepped into the room, their heavy boots loud on the marble floor.
The steel handcuffs clicked shut around Aurelio's wrists before his lawyers could even open their leather portfolios to protest.
I turned my back on them and walked out into the crisp Chicago night, the rain beginning to wash over the concrete paths.
People like the Salcedo family always believe that because they carry a proud name, a loud opinion, and a half-million-dollar threat, they can command the empire.
They look at a quiet woman fighting for her life and mistake her vulnerability for weakness.

They completely forget that the same person who carries the true lineage is the one who holds the legal power to erase a predator's world line by line.
I drove back to the hospital, the ledger perfectly balanced, the liars contained, and my daughter’s future finally, beautifully safe.
