Chapter 4 - THE NETWORK OF SHADOWS

The transition from a newly released prisoner to a calculating, ruthless adversary required an absolute, silent discipline.
For three days, Ryan did not confront Patricia, nor did he return to the main house.
Instead, he stayed in a small, isolated motel near the interstate, working alongside his childhood friend Sienna, who had risen to become a senior corporate litigator in Manhattan.
The motel desk was buried under a sea of financial spreadsheets, decrypted server logs, and the damning entries of his father's journal, which documented every illegal transaction Patricia had authorized.
"They have been routing over forty million dollars through a series of shell companies in Panama to cover Sterling's failed real estate ventures," Sienna explained, her fingers flying across her high-security laptop.
"They used your previous conviction to isolate you, Ryan, knowing the public would automatically dismiss the word of a convicted felon over a prestigious charity donor like Patricia."
"They plan to declare your father legally incompetent at the annual high-society gala this Friday, using the Swiss conglomerate merger to permanently erase the paper trail."
Ryan stared out the motel window at the neon lights reflecting on the wet asphalt, a dangerous, sharp focus settling behind his eyes.
"They believed my silence was guaranteed because I was broken by the prison system," he said quietly, his voice carrying a lethal, quiet authority.
"But they forgot that my father taught me how to read a ledger long before they tried to steal it."
"We are not going to stop the gala, Sienna."

"We are going to let Patricia stand on that stage in front of her wealthiest investors, believing she has successfully stolen our legacy."
"And then, we are going to walk through the door and show the entire world the monster hiding beneath the pearls."
