Chapter 4 - THE NETWORK OF REVERSAL

The transition from a grieving mother to a dangerous, calculating heiress required a systematic, silent operation that lasted through the dead of night.

While Lucía rested quietly in our apartment under the protective care of my sister Emma, Marcus and I worked inside his high-security downtown office.

We didn't just have the photographs from Lucía's phone; we had spent the last forty-eight hours executing a deep-dive financial audit of Beatriz's personal holding company.

With the help of the federal auditing division, we uncovered the hidden trail of corporate bribery that led straight to our family doctor, Dr. Robert Sterling.

"Dr. Sterling was paid five hundred thousand dollars from Beatriz's Panamanian shell accounts to sign off on the twins' 'congenital heart failure' death certificates," Marcus said.

"He also prepared the fraudulent psychiatric evaluation forms that they were planning to present to the judge tomorrow morning to strip you of your parental rights."

"We have his signed confession, Mariana."

"He surrendered his digital ledger the moment my team showed him the wire transfer records."

"And Alejandro?" I asked, my voice carrying a freezing, absolute calm.

"Your husband has been desperately trying to delete the routing directories from his company's mainframe," Marcus replied with a cold, sharp smile.

"But he doesn't know that our forensic team has already duplicated the entire database."

"We have the exact emails between him and his mother planning the trust transfer while your sons were still in the emergency room."

The physical and financial evidence was now a complete, lethal arsenal of proof.

I stood up from the table, my white clinical nurse's uniform replaced by a sharp, tailored black power suit that radiated an absolute, unbreakable dignity.

"They wanted to use my sons' caskets as a stepping stone to my father's wealth," I said, my green eyes flashing with a sudden, predatory focus.

"But tomorrow morning, they will find out what happens when the shepherd returns to the flock."
