Chapter 4 - The Clean Slate

Two hours later, the private executive lounge of the Horizon terminal was warm, quiet, and completely peaceful.

The storm outside continued to beat against the wide glass panels, but the internal security was absolute.

Dakota sat in a leather armchair, a clean white blouse replacing her flight attendant's uniform shirt.

She held a warm cup of black coffee, her eyes fixed on the final financial registry displayed on her laptop.

The signature line bore her name alone, the family brand fully restored to its original, honest standard.

The door opened softly, and her mother, Eleanor, walked into the lounge, wearing a classic wool trench coat.

She didn't speak of the scandal, the press coverage, or the political fallout that was currently breaking across the news.

She simply walked over and wrapped her arms around her daughter, offering a true, unconditional embrace.

"You handled it beautifully, Dakota," Eleanor whispered, her voice filled with a profound, breaking pride.

"Your father would have been so proud to see his legacy protected with such mathematical precision."

"It wasn't just about the legacy, Mom," Dakota said, looking out at the runways where the planes were taking off.

"It was about proving that the people who build the house always outlast the thieves who try to steal it."

Marcus entered the room, his phone buzzing constantly with notifications from the international trading boards.

"The stock value has stabilized, Chief Executive," Marcus reported with a respectful bow of his head.

"The investors are fully supportive of the transition, and the Florence conference has been rescheduled for next month."

"Excellent," Dakota said, closing the laptop console with a decisive, structured snap.

"Ensure Trinity’s legal team receives the secondary cooperation documents; she can trade her testimony for a lesser sentence."

"But as for Adam, I want the maximum penalty pursued under the federal guidelines."

She stood up from the chair, walking to the glass window to watch the evening sun break through the gray clouds.

The golden light reflected off the wet tarmac, illuminating a brand new horizon that belonged entirely to her.
