Chapter 3 - THE SHADOW OVER THE ASSETS

The transition from an underestimated, retired military mechanic back into the senior compliance analyst for the State Insurance Fraud Bureau was completed before dawn.
I sat inside the secure operations monitoring vehicle parked two blocks away from the medical complex, the bright blue interface grids of our specialized network mapping every single asset held by the Harrow family.
Beside me sat my lead litigation attorney, Blanca, her high-definition screens tracking the multi-layered international transaction codes of their shipping company.
"They truly believed your twenty-two years at the bureau meant you were just a government clerk who looked at car accidents, Martin," Blanca explained smoothly.
"Ronald and his son have spent the last fourteen months using Claire’s private generational inheritance trust as fraudulent collateral to secure their northern maritime expansion bonds."
"They systematically altered the digital signature logs while she was recovering from that minor illness last autumn, confident she would never audit the statements."
"They thought because her mother passed away, because she had no massive corporate board behind her, she was a resource to be harvested," I stated coldly.
"They forgot that before I managed the local fraud division, I spent ten years designing the data verification loops for military logistical networks."
"The moment the smart speaker's acoustic log matched the biometric signatures of the suspects, the system executed the emergency quarantine block," Blanca confirmed.
"Every commercial line of credit registered to Harrow Maritime has just been placed under a total administrative freeze by the treasury department."

"Let them try to clear the port authorities this morning, Blanca," I said, looking out the reinforced window as the cold rain blurred the city streetlights.
"When they realize the vault door is permanently locked from the inside, we will step onto the floor."
