Chapter 7 - The Dawn of True Justice

Six months after the trial, the morning sun broke over the quiet countryside just outside the city.

The grand Mercer estate had been auctioned off by federal marshals. The proceeds—totaling over thirty million dollars—were placed into a specialized federal trust fund established in my name.

I didn't keep the money for myself.

Instead, alongside my parents and Rosa, I established the Sterling Foundation for Domestic Victims and Whistleblowers. The foundation provided full legal protection, emergency shelter, and medical funding for individuals trapped in abusive situations where power and wealth were used to suppress the truth.

Rosa was appointed as the regional director of the foundation’s community outreach program, ensuring that staff members and domestic workers across the state had a safe, confidential avenue to report abuse without fear of retaliation.

On a warm spring morning, I stood on the porch of a beautiful, sunlit farmhouse that my parents and I had restored together. The air was sweet with the scent of blooming jasmine.

My mother walked out onto the porch, carrying two cups of fresh coffee. She handed one to me with a warm, gentle smile.

"How are your eyes feeling today, sweetheart?" she asked.

I looked out across the green rolling hills, watching the sunlight play across the horizon in perfect, vivid detail.

"My vision is perfect, Mom," I said, taking a sip of the coffee. "Better than it’s ever been."

The Mercer family had tried to blind me, believing they could erase my voice and hide their ugly truth behind high walls and expensive lawyers. But in trying to destroy me, they had brought down their own empire of lies.

I took a deep breath of the fresh spring air, knowing that the dark chapter of my life was permanently closed. I was no longer a victim hiding in the shadows of a cruel family.

I was free, standing in the light, surrounded by the people who truly loved me.
