Chapter 3 - THE CRYPTOGRAPHIC TRUTH

The transition from a grieving, isolated tech executive back into a clinical force of absolute retribution was completed before the clock struck midnight.

I sat at the massive granite desk inside my private command suite, the brilliant blue interface of our corporate satellite network illuminating the dark leather walls.

Beside me sat my senior network compliance director, Blanca, her fingers flying across the keyboard to clear the primary cryptographic firewalls of the clinic.

"Julian didn't just lie about the system failure, Mr. Whitfield," Blanca explained, her voice dropping into a tense frequency as she highlighted the transaction logs.

"Three years ago, the board of directors authorized a secret medical proxy transfer, using a forged signature to release Claire's embryo to an off-site surrogate."

"They used Maria because her family’s immigration sponsorship was tied directly to Julian's secondary holding firm in Panama."

"He told her that if she didn't carry the child in absolute secrecy, her entire family would face immediate administrative deportation," she added.

"He believed my consuming grief made me blind to the operational budgets, Blanca," I stated, my eyes fixed on the flashing red indicators of the ledger.

"He wanted to use my own flesh and blood as a leverage point to seize my voting shares the moment the merger in Seattle was finalized."

"The surrogate logs show that Julian has been siphoning millions from our research grants to finance the private clinical facility," Blanca confirmed.

"And he has already scheduled an emergency emergency guardianship petition with a corrupt family court commissioner for tomorrow morning."

"Let him present his fraudulent paperwork, Blanca," I said, a dangerous, crystalline smile settling behind my eyes as I locked the files into a secure briefcase.

"When he realizes that the primary security keys to his entire network belong to the child he tried to hide, the countdown will end."
