Chapter 4 - THE CORPORATE INTERDICTION

At exactly 9:00 AM, the international financial markets opened, and within forty-two seconds, the executive suite of Cobb Maritime dissolved into pure panic.
Ronald sat in his high-backed leather chair, his tailored navy suit wrinkled, his hands trembling violently as a continuous stream of red warnings filled his monitor.
Priscilla burst through the mahogany double doors of the office, her face a pale mask of raw high-society terror as she slammed her phone down.
"Ronald! The clearing house just executed an emergency freeze on our primary asset vault!" she shrieked, her voice cracking into a high-pitched wail.
"They are saying our commercial collateral is completely invalid because the underlying deeds belong to the Sterling Family Trust!"
"They are claiming we don't have the legal authority to sign the regional shipping contracts today!"
Ronald looked up, his eyes bloodshot, his confidence entirely stripped away as the heavy, synchronized footsteps of federal agents echoed through the lobby.
"It’s Lexi," he whispered hoarsely, his hands dropping uselessly onto the desk as his network connectivity indicator dropped to zero.
"She didn't just cancel your credit card, Mother... she was the primary trustee of the development board that approved our infrastructure loans."
"She has been reading our digital transaction logs since the day the divorce papers were first filed."
The double doors were violently pushed open, and I walked through the threshold, my posture perfectly rigid, my ivory suit catching the bright light.
Behind me walked Blanca, flanked by six armed federal marshals whose gold shields gleamed brilliantly under the office chandeliers.

"The registry is closed, Ronald," I said, my voice cutting through the room like a razor-sharp steel blade.
"And your family's ambition is no longer required."
