The transition from a quiet, discarded wife to a calculated, lethal adversary required an absolute, silent operation that lasted through the middle of the week.
While Daniel and Vanessa were drinking expensive champagne at their victory parties, my military legal team was executing a comprehensive forensic audit of their shared corporate past.
Inside my private VIP recovery suite, Sienna, our senior military litigator, sat across from me, her laptop displaying a detailed, multi-year transaction log that made the room turn cold.
"He didn't just use your signature for the local country club memberships, Evelyn," Sienna explained, her voice dropping into a low, clinical whisper as she swiped through the files.
"Over the last fourteen months, Daniel has been siphoning defense department procurement funds through a series of shell companies registered in Panama."
"He thought because you were deployed in the Pacific, because your mail was routed through an APO address, you would never look at the digital line-item balances," she added.
"He believed your silence was an open door to fund his mistress's lifestyle and clear her parents' defaulted real estate debts," I stated, my face remaining completely calm.
"He forgot that my command specialty is logistics interdiction, Sienna; I have spent my entire career finding where powerful men bury their panic inside paperwork."
"The warrants have been fully executed by the Treasury Division," she confirmed, a cold, sharp satisfaction coloring her tone.
