Chapter 4 - The Boardroom Coup

The annual emergency shareholder meeting of Whitmore Grand Holdings was called for 10:00 AM on Thursday morning.
Adrian sat at the head of the long glass table, wearing a fresh tailored suit, trying desperately to project the same cold, arrogant confidence that had built his reputation.
Sienna sat in the gallery, wearing a dark dress, her hands trembling as she looked at the senior board members who were whispering among themselves.
"Ladies and gentlemen," Adrian began, smoothing down his tie as he stood up. "I assure you that the temporary administrative hold on our regional accounts is a minor technical glitch."
"My wife, Claire, has recently suffered some... emotional instability due to her advanced pregnancy, which led to a minor miscommunication regarding our personal trust."
"Emotional instability, Mr. Whitmore?"
The quiet, firm voice echoed from the back of the boardroom.
The heavy mahogany doors opened, and Claire walked into the room, flanked by two senior federal compliance attorneys and a high-ranking officer from the state auditor's office.
She was wearing her soft cream maternity dress, her posture perfectly straight, her eyes bright and steady, completely free of any tears or confusion.
The board members gasped, several of them standing up in surprise as they looked at the pregnant woman Adrian had spent two days describing as "unstable."
"Claire?" Adrian stammered, his face losing its remaining color as he backed away from the head of the table. "What are you doing here? You should be resting!"
May you like
"I'm done resting, Adrian," Claire said, stepping up to the center of the room. "And I'm done letting you use my daughter's pregnancy as a shield for your financial fraud."
