Chapter 5 - Unmasking the $9.8 Million Fraud

Claire pulled a secure digital tablet from her briefcase and connected it directly to the boardroom's primary projection system.
The large screen behind Adrian lit up, displaying a complete, color-coded map of the $9.8 million wire transfer from Whitmore Harbor Holdings to Blue Meridian Consulting.
"This is Blue Meridian Consulting," Claire announced, pointing to the secondary node on the screen. "A shell company registered in Delaware three months ago."
"The sole signatory on that offshore account isn't an independent consultant."
"It's Sienna Vale."
Sienna shrieked, standing up so fast her chair tipped backward onto the carpet. "That's a lie! That was my talent retainer fee for the international campaign!"
"A talent retainer fee paid through a non-audited construction fund three days before my husband filed a petition for my emergency guardianship?" Claire countered, her voice dropping into an icy, razor-sharp register.
"You didn't file that guardianship petition because you thought I was unstable, Adrian," Claire said, looking her husband directly in the eyes.
"You filed it because under the terms of my father's original investment trust, if I am declared legally incompetent, full voting control of my fifty-one percent majority stake transfers directly to you."
"You needed my voting rights to clear the illegal liquidation of the harbor properties before the federal tax deadline."
The senior board director stood up, slamming his hand flat against the glass table, his face contorted in absolute fury.
"Adrian!" the director roared. "Is this true? Did you attempt to execute a fraudulent medical guardianship against the majority shareholder to cover an offshore embezzlement scheme?"
May you like
Adrian couldn't speak; he stood frozen, his eyes darting frantically from the screen to the federal agents standing at the back of the room.
