Chapter 7 - A Promise Kept in Gold

Six months later, the afternoon sun broke warm and golden over the expansive backyard of the new house in Greenwich.
The garden was filled with blooming white roses, hydrangeas, and fresh green grass where Grace's children were laughing and playing tag.
Grace sat in a white wooden rocking chair on the porch, holding her newborn son, Isaiah—a healthy, beautiful baby boy with bright dark eyes and a soft tuft of dark hair.
Marta Alvarez sat beside her on the bench, sipping fresh lemonade, her face bright with a peaceful, motherly smile.
"He looks just like Marcus," Marta whispered, gently touching the baby's tiny hand.
"He does," Grace smiled softly, tears of quiet joy touching her eyes. "He has his father's peaceful spirit."
A sleek black car pulled into the driveway, and Grant Whitmore stepped out, carrying a large silver box tied with a gold ribbon.
He walked up the porch steps, offering a warm, genuine smile as he set the box on the outdoor table.
"Happy six-month milestone, little Isaiah," Grant smiled, leaning down to softly touch the baby's blanket.
"You didn't have to bring another gift, Mr. Whitmore," Grace laughed softly.
"It's not a gift for him," Grant replied, pulling a smaller velvet box from his coat pocket and handing it to Grace.
Grace opened the box. Inside lay a beautiful gold locket, engraved with the names Marcus, Kiara, Marcus Jr., and Isaiah.
"You spent years taking care of everyone else, Grace," Grant said, looking out over the blooming garden where her children were playing safely. "Now it's our turn to take care of you."
Grace held the locket against her chest, feeling the warm sunshine wash over her face, surrounded by her family, her home, and a future built on truth, dignity, and real love.
