Chapter 5 - THE GLASS CEILING SHATTERS

The legal proceedings that followed our public confrontation moved with a swift, mathematical precision that left no room for political bribes.

By Tuesday afternoon, the state medical board had officially executed an emergency suspension of Dr. Robert Sterling’s professional license.

The forensic toxicology reports of Lily’s blood work were fully logged into the federal database, proving the systematic administration of clinical sedatives.

Victoria Vance and her private medical conspirators were held in a federal detention center without the possibility of bail, their personal assets frozen by the Department of Justice.

I stood in the grand executive boardroom of the Bennett Corporation, my tailored navy blue power suit immaculate as I looked at the board of directors.

The thirty corporate magnates who had once whispered behind their programs were now sitting in absolute, respectful silence as I took my place at the head of the table.

"The Winchester-Vance merger is officially declared void under the federal fraud statutes," the board chairman announced, his voice carrying a deep professional respect.

"The maritime shipping patents will remain under the exclusive, sovereign control of Rachel Bennett and her daughter, Lily."

Julian stood in the back of the room, his royal blue suit looking like a prison uniform as he prepared to sign the final corporate divestment papers.

He didn't look at me, and he didn't look at the board; his eyes were fixed entirely on the floor as he realized his family's dynasty was permanently ruined.

"You thought because we were quiet, we were weak, Julian," I said, my voice dropping into a cold, clear frequency that made his jaw tighten.

"But my father raised me to understand that the numbers never lie, and the ledger of your greed has finally reached its final page."

I signed my name to the restoration deeds, the gold-plated pen gliding smoothly across the paper like a final judgment on their empire of lies.
