Plot twist

PART 3: THE DEBT COLLECTED

The storm outside matched the chaos in my mind.

I had the documents.

I had the proof.

I had the power to destroy him.

But if I destroyed him, I destroyed my mother’s care.

I destroyed my own future.

I walked to the balcony and looked out at the city lights.

I had to choose.

Freedom or security.

I chose freedom.

I didn't have a plan.

I didn't have an escape route.

I just knew I couldn't stay.

I grabbed a bag, some clothes, and the documents.

I crept out of the room, my heart pounding in my ears.

The east wing was silent.

The guards were at the door, but I knew the secret passage behind the tapestry.

Dante had showed it to me once, a dark, narrow corridor that led to the garage.

I crawled through, my hands shaking.

I reached the garage and saw his black sedan.

I had the keys, he had given them to me the week before.

I started the engine, the roar echoing through the space.

I drove out of the garage, past the gates, and into the night.

I felt a rush of adrenaline.

I was free!

I drove for hours, my eyes glued to the rearview mirror.

I was heading for the coast, somewhere he’d never look.

I felt like I could finally breathe.

But as I rounded a sharp turn, I saw headlights.

A black SUV blocked the road.

I slammed on the brakes, the tires screeching on the asphalt.

The driver stepped out.

It was Dante.

He looked calm.

Controlled.

"I knew you'd try," he said.

"I put a tracker in your necklace."

I touched my neck, my fingers trembling.

"You monster!" I screamed.

"I did this for us!" he yelled back.

"You don't understand!"

He walked toward me, his eyes burning with intensity.

"You are mine, Arya!"

"I don't belong to anyone!"

"You belong to me!"

He reached into his pocket and pulled out a gun.

He didn't point it at me.

He pointed it at the ground.

"If you leave," he said, his voice low, "I’ll kill the person who needs you the most."

My mother.

He knew exactly how to break me.

"You wouldn't," I whispered.

"Try me."

He stepped closer, his face inches from mine.

"You have two choices."

"Get in the car and come back with me."

"Or watch her suffer."

I looked at him, my heart breaking.

I knew he was telling the truth.

He was a man who would do anything to get what he wanted.

I lowered my head and stepped into the car.

He followed, the engine roaring as we drove back to the mansion.

We sat in silence, the distance between us wider than it had ever been.

He didn't speak.

He didn't touch me.

He just drove.

We arrived back at the estate, the gates opening as we approached.

The mansion stood tall, a monument to his power.

He parked the car and turned to look at me.

"This is your home now," he said.

"And you are never leaving it."

He walked away, leaving me in the car.

I sat there, the engine ticking, the night air cold.

I had lost.

But I hadn't been destroyed.

I looked at the documents on the passenger seat.

They were still there.

They were still dangerous.

And I knew that one day, I would use them.

One day, I would be free.

One day, I would be the one holding the gun.

I looked at the house and saw the lights flicker.

The game was not over.

May you like

It was only beginning.

And I would be ready.
