PART 6: THE SUBURBAN PERIMETER EXCLUSION

The winter wind coming off the river brought a freezing mist that covered the manicured hedges of the suburban mansion where Margaret had hosted her social committees for over a decade.
At 9:30 a.m., two large commercial moving trucks pulled up to the gated entryway of the private residence. The iron gates, programmed to recognize Margaret’s luxury vehicle, stayed completely static and locked.
Margaret stood on the other side of the stone pillars, wrapped in an expensive wool wrap, her breathing rapid and visible in the cold air. She slammed her palm against the intercom button.
"Open this perimeter immediately!" she barked into the microphone. "I am the primary titleholder of this property! I have a recorded lifetime occupancy easement!"
The speaker crackled, and my voice came through the automated line, clear, calm, and entirely unaffected by the freezing weather.
"The easement was directly contingent on the solvency of the corporate holding group, Margaret," I said over the link. "Since the forensic audit proved the holding group was propped up by siphoned wages and unauthorized loan draws, the court has declared the easement null and void. The deed has been transferred to the master liquidation trust."
Claire’s vehicle pulled up along the concrete curb behind the moving trucks. She stepped out into the mist, her hands shaking inside her pockets as she walked toward her mother, her eyes darting toward the newly installed security cameras under the roofline.
"Mom, stop," Claire whispered, her voice thin and entirely hollow. "The lawyers just called. If we interfere with the asset recovery team, the judge will revoke the bail consideration for Dad. We have to clear our personal items now."
Margaret turned on her daughter, her expression twisted into pure, unbridled bitterness. She snatched an ornamental porcelain vase from a nearby patio table and hurled it against the iron bars of the gate. It shattered into hundreds of white shards across the damp driveway.
"You let her strip everything!" Margaret screamed into the wind. "We treated that quiet girl like she was an inconvenience to our legacy, and you told me she would never have the courage to audit the books!"

"I didn't know she had Marcus Vance behind her, Mom!" Claire shouted back, her voice cracking in panic. "I thought Robert had locked her out of the primary server files!"
From the monitor inside, I watched the mother and daughter argue in the cold rain, their fragile kingdom turning into nothing but broken ceramics and legal default notices.
