Chapter 4 - THE CORPORATE EXTRACTION

The early morning sun of Christmas Day did nothing to warm the frosted glass windows of the Sinclair corporate headquarters downtown.
While the rest of the city was celebrating the holiday in warmth and peace, my legal team was executing a clinical, relentless extraction of the family's assets.
Arthur sat at the head of the massive mahogany boardroom table, his laptop connected directly to the secure mainframes of the frozen Panama accounts.
Beside him, two federal auditors moved through the digital transaction lines with the speed and precision of a military task force.
"They didn't just siphon the infrastructure bonds, Nora," Arthur explained, swiping a row of highlighted financial variables across the large display screen.
"Richard had already prepared a secondary set of bankruptcy documents designed to legally dissolve the logistics trust the moment your birthday arrived."
"He was going to leave your father's employees without a single dollar of their retirement reserves while he transferred the remaining capital to Chloe's shell firm."
"They believed that because I was isolated in that suburban house, because I was focusing on my children's safety, I wouldn't check the ledger," I stated.
"They forgot that a mother's primary instinct is to build an unbreakable fortress around the people she loves."
The door of the boardroom opened, and Richard walked inside under the heavy escort of a federal marshal, his designer suit wrinkled, his silver tie completely undone.
"Claire, please, let us discuss this privately," he pleaded, his smooth, level voice completely replaced by a dry, desperate rattle.
"We can rewrite the partnership agreements; we can divide the real estate trust equally without destroying the family name in the press."

"The family name died the moment you let your mother throw our daughter's dinner onto the floor to stage a medical lie, Richard," I said.
"The ledger is closed, and your signature is no longer required."
