Chapter 5 - THE JUDICIAL SIEGE

The grand courtroom of the Federal District Court was a suffocating monument to institutional power and absolute finality.
Beatrice Sinclair sat at the defense table, her ice-blue pantsuit looking faded under the harsh fluorescent lights, her hands clutched tightly in her lap.
Beside her sat Chloe, her heavy diamond jewelry removed, her eyes wide with a sudden, primitive terror as the judge entered the chambers.
"The court has reviewed the high-definition audio and video recordings captured during the Christmas Eve dinner," the judge announced, his voice echoing off the high stone walls.
"The physical evidence clearly demonstrates a coordinated attempt to commit document fraud, domestic coercion, and intentional injury to a pregnant estate holder."
"Furthermore, the forensic banking logs confirm a systematic pattern of international wire fraud extending over a three-year period."
The Sinclair family attorney stood up, his smooth, rehearsed confidence sounding entirely artificial as he tried to offer a final mitigation argument.
"Your Honor, my clients were under immense economic pressure due to the maritime disruptions in the southern channels," he claimed.
"The rights of your clients ended the moment they attempted to falsify medical records to commit an institutional kidnapping, sir," Arthur interjected.
I sat at the prosecution table, my children sitting quietly in the row behind me under the secure protection of my father's veteran security team.

I looked at Richard, whose face had gone completely hollow as the judge signed the permanent asset seizure files.
"This court sentences you to twenty-five years in a federal maximum-security facility without the possibility of early parole," the judge declared.
