By the winter of 2027, the financial receivership of the Valenzuela estate was officially closed.
Victor Hayes delivered the final legal ledger to our office overlooking the bay.
The document was bound in clean, simple white paper—no gold foil, no family crest.
"Every single dollar from the liquidation has been successfully distributed to the victim relief funds, Meline," Victor said, closing his briefcase with a sharp, definitive click. "The Valenzuela corporate charter has been permanently deleted from the state registry."
I signed the final acknowledgment line, handing the pen back to him.
"Thank you, Victor. For everything."
"It was an honor, Ms. Hayes," he smiled, bowing slightly before walking out the glass doors.
I looked down at the empty desk.
Thirty years of systemic greed, extortion, and emotional abuse had been reduced to a single page of cleared balances.
