Plot twist

Chapter 7 - The Ghost in the Ledger

One afternoon, I discovered an encrypted file on Daniel’s private server.

He had been working late, and the computer was still active when he stepped out to run an errand.

Curiosity, that dangerous and seductive force, compelled me to look.

The file was titled "The Net."

I opened it, expecting to see legal briefs or asset lists.

Instead, I found a map.

A map of every major property currently under our control.

But there were markings—small, red dots overlaying the map of the city.

There were hundreds of them.

Each dot represented a location where Daniel had been performing secret audits over the last six months.

He hadn't just been fighting the company that attacked us.

He had been systematically acquiring debt from every powerful institution in the region.

He was the one who had dropped the net.

He had become the architect of a much larger, more silent power.

I stood there, the cool air of the room feeling suddenly heavy.

Daniel wasn't just a partner in a firm.

He was the invisible owner of half the city’s debt.

He had played Patricia and Melissa perfectly.

He had baited them into their own destruction.

I looked at the screen, my hands trembling.

This wasn't just justice.

This was a long-term, calculated strategy for absolute control.

I wondered who else he had trapped in this net.

And I wondered if I was a part of the strategy, or if I was merely a passenger.
