Plot twist

Chapter 9 - The Invisible ChainThe cottage, once a symbol of our new beginning, began to feel like an observatory.

Daniel’s influence was everywhere, yet he was nowhere to be found.

He was constantly in meetings, his phone buzzing with alerts from the "Net."

Every morning, the black car was there, its driver still an enigma.

I tried to act normal for our daughter’s sake, but my skin crawled.

I started taking secret drives into the city, using a secondary vehicle I had purchased under a pseudonym.

I needed to know how deep this web went.

I traced one of the red dots on the map to an abandoned industrial lot.

What I found there chilled me to the bone.

It was a data center, running at full capacity, housing servers that controlled the city's financial flows.

A small sign by the gate read: Whitmore Asset Management - Restricted Access.

They were still in business.

But they were under Daniel’s thumb.

He hadn't liquidated the empire; he had turned it into a surveillance state.

I sat in my car, watching the data center, realizing the magnitude of his deception.

He was playing god with the lives of thousands, all under the guise of our "safety."

I felt the walls closing in, but this time, the enemy wasn't an arrogant sister-in-law.

The enemy was the man who slept beside me every night.
